Graduate Mentoring - Tony Bible
Tony came to the program as a weaver, he focused originally on more functional forms. I worked with Tony as his mentor in the second year, my challenge for him was to take his phenomenal skill and apply it toward non-traditional objects. I still hope that one day Tony will weave together a field of corn as we had semi-jokingly discussed during our studio visits.
Pictured here is an overview of his show. There is a delicate woven butterfly, a wall of pvc elbows for sink drains, and a seed contained in 42 layers of weaving material each layer from a different aspect of Tony's life.
